THE ENGINEERING BEHIND ZELA

Built in Go.
Built for this job.

Infrastructure software should be straightforward to ship, inspect, and operate. Go gives Zela a practical foundation for that work.

01 / SHIP

A binary you can
put on a server.

Go compiles to native machine code. Zela’s Linux build targets amd64 and arm64 with CGO disabled, so the destination does not need a separate Go installation.

The manager embeds its dashboard assets. You don’t need a separate frontend build or CDN just to open the console.

02 / CONNECT

Many workers.
Coordinated work.

A manager waits on network calls, collects inventory, checks health, and serves requests. Goroutines let Go express concurrent work without dedicating an operating-system thread to each task.

Zela bounds its worker polling and uses request budgets. Go makes that coordination readable; resource limits and application checks still do the operational work.

03 / BUILD

A strong standard
library to build on.

Go includes HTTP servers and clients, TLS, cryptography, JSON, testing, and embedded files. These are useful building blocks for a small infrastructure control plane.

Zela also uses focused dependencies for PostgreSQL, WireGuard, SSH support, and the MCP protocol. The goal is a codebase whose responsibilities stay understandable.

04 / MAINTAIN

Code that stays
approachable.

Explicit error handling, interfaces, formatting tools, and a built-in test framework help make operational behavior easier to follow and change.

Zela’s verification includes Go race tests and console interaction tests. No language choice replaces testing or a careful recovery plan.

THE PRINCIPLE
Make the system easier to understand—and easier to run.

Sources, not speed claims.

We chose Go for practical deployment and maintenance reasons. We don’t claim universal performance numbers.

Workers still need Docker and any required host networking support. SSH provisioning needs OpenSSH on the manager.
